Global Markets Witness Sell-Off Amid Worries About A Prolonged Trade War Between The U.S. And China, & Crash In Argentina's Peso Currency
The sell-off on global markets came amid worries about a prolonged trade war between the U.S. and China after President Donald Trump recently indicated he feels no sense of urgency to resolve the dispute.
Trump told reporters that he is "not ready to make a deal" with China and suggested the U.S. could skip the next round of trade talks in September.
Asian markets are trading lower this morning as protests in Hong Kong and a crash in Argentina's peso currency brings down investors sentiment.
The dollar surged against higher-yielding currencies on Monday as a plummeting Argentinian peso sent shockwaves through emerging markets.
The shock also weakened of other emerging currencies perceived as vulnerable, especially at a time of slowing global growth.
The Indian benchmark Index Nifty showed strong rally on last two trading days from its low of 10783 to close at 11109 and rose 1.02% in the last week, however 11182 may act as hurdle for Nifty.
On Friday, market ended in a positive zone. Top 5 major sectors which outperformed were Metals and Mining (2.20%), Realty (1.90%), Industrial Manufacturing (1.17%), Banks Psu l (1.13%) and Banks Private (1.08%). Top 5 minor sectors which has outperformed were Home Appliances (1.77%), Carbon (1.35%), Interior Construction (1.29%), Airlines (1.28%) and Packaging (1.25%).
The US 10 Year T-Note is trading at 130.27. The Bond has crucial support at 117.42 made on 5th Nov 2018. The US Dollar Index is trading at 97.403.
